Crvftswomxn is a slow fashion brand, prototyping studio, and alias for the artist and designer Sydney Greenley-Kois. Graduate of the Mass Art Fashion Design program, Sydney is a sustainability-focused designer and educator specializing in apparel, utility soft goods, and textile development as well as natural dye techniques. She runs a full service studio in Northampton, Massachusetts where she builds samples for a number of clients including her own brand.
In addition to her own designs, mentorship in hands-on skill building and the continuation of critical knowledge such as clothes-making and 3D design are central to her mission. Sydney works as an educator at several local maker-spaces and schools.
Sydney's repertoire includes the unique pairing of production level sewing skills, backed by technical design and artistry.
Her passion for clothes-making began at an early age and was primarily centered around historical European folk dress and design motifs. While at Mass Art, she was involved in climate activism and concentrated her studies on the use of naturally derived fibers and dyes.
Bolstering her utility design experience and hand craft, Sydney worked for the messenger bag brand Chrome Industries in both San Francisco and New York City as their in-house custom bag maker. She has since gone on to provide contract design work for a number of brands including Beautiful Genius, as well as launch her own designs for retail under the name Crvftswomxn.
